After a 15 hour flight from person to Hong Kong, we were told that we had to follow guy through the airport as he RUSHED us through security and onto our next connection. Apparently we arrived late or something.
A quick puddle jump later and we arrive in Vietnam.. Only to find out that mine and Margots checked luggage was left in Hong Kong.
Not to worry hopefully it will arrive in the next few days.
Upon the maddash drive from the airport to the city I noticed that the Vietnamese people must have massive scooter driving balls or super 1337 skills, since they don’t so much as go with the flow… but go around the flow. These scooter driving people (men women, kids, families.. professionals and otherwise) weave in and out of traffic as if it is but a mere annoyance to zip around. Scooters also seem to drive just about everywhere, and have their own off and on ramps all over the city.
The other thing I noticed, is that the city seems to have some preaty amazing drainage system. When we first walked to our hotel type thing, we had to walk through about 3-5 inchs of rain fall that had collected. In the next two hours it was all gone. Super cool.
Once we got settled into our hotel, we realized that most of us had been up for up on near 24 hours with next to no real sleep. SO we hiked it out, and in true Canadian fashion went looking for a pub.
Since we could not locate a pub, and without language skills lacking – we ended up ordering beer at a cafĂ© or restaurant of some kind. 5 bottles of beer, and 3 pints came out to about 6.50 Canadian.
Also as a fun fact... all the internet seems to be in viet. This could get interesting.
